Tamil (Indian) Traditional Food.

Idli (south Indian Food):

Idli is one of the best and traditional food in India. Which is served in the morning for breakfast and dinner as well. Usually, Idli is made out of Rice and black Lentils. Along with Idli, Sambar and chutney will be there.

In order to cook Idli they have to grind the rice and black lentil along with required amount of water. Once, it done they have to boil the paste for twenty to thirty minutes in cooker to prepare a idly.

Idli is quite famous across India and its originated from South India. In many food and research Industry Idli has been approved as one of the healthiest food.

Vada

The various types of vadas are made from different ingredients, ranging from legumes (such as medu vada of South India).Vada looks like a doughnut, and which is their traditional and very famous breakfast in IndiaSouth India). It is made of fried ground lentils and is usually served accompanied with sambar and coconut chutney. 

Dahi Vada

Dahi vada is a South Indian culinary. It is basically a serving style of Medu Vada which is if served dipped in curd, then it is called ‘Dahi Vada. Peppered with Coriander and chilly powder , Which is one of the great moving food items in the hotel across the South India.
Samosa :

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp robust Della Terra Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 3/4 cup water
    Combine dry ingredients for the dough in a large bowl or bowl of a food processor. Add water and olive oil and mix or pulse until a rough dough begins to form. Add more water as necessary. Squeeze the dough on a lightly floured surface until it becomes smooth and pliant. Allow dough to rest, covered, for about 30 minutes while the filling is prepared.
    Once it is done we need to Heat olive oil over medium heat in a large heavy skillet. Add chile, ginger, onions and garlic. Add spices and cook for another minute or so until fragrant. Add potatoes and gently crush them with the back of a spoon to a desired lumpy consistency. Add peas and lime juice, cook for another minute. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

    Indian Butter Chicken

Ingredients

  • 8-10 boneless chicken thighs
  • 2 cans diced tomatoes and juice
  • 4 jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped
  • 2 Tbsp fresh ginger root, peeled and chopped
  • 10 Tbsp (1-1/4 sticks) butter
  • 4 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 Tbsp paprika
  • 2 tsp kosher salt
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup yogurt
  • 2 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tsp ground roasted cumin seeds (roast on the stovetop in a small pan).
  • 1/4 cup firmly packed minced cilantro.
    This butter chicken is one of the famous food in India. And India has lot of street food shops in India. In, which butter chicken is very cheap and also gives of profit for them as well.
    Pongal:

  • Basically is a Indian version of the Kichdi. For many south Indians is one of the comfort food as it is quick to prepare and is light on the stomach. It can be prepared quickly for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Pongal is protein packed, tasted delicious with a good aroma of ghee and seasoned ingredients. It takes less than 30 minutes to make along with a chutney. It tastes best when hot or warm.
    Sambar:

is one of the best Indian traditional food. Especially, is not only healthy& also tastes delicious. Indian ancient people recommending that contains all a complete nutrition to our body as it is protein packed and nutrient dense.
is a great side dish to pair with breakfast and . This spicemixed ) is the main key to making a good .
is rich in protein, fiber and lot more nutrients essential for the body. Above all, is one of the traditional in south India.

It is eaten with rice or separately as a spicy soup. In a traditional meal, it can be part of a course that include Sambar rice and curd rice. Rasam has a distinct taste in comparison to the sambar due to its own seasoning ingredients and is usually fluid in consistency.
Dosai.

South Indian dosa.

Masala dosa,  the south Indian food that’s most enjoyed by travelers. It’s a thin crispy pancake filled with spicy potato and onion. Cheap and tasty! Which is made out of rice, with the help of Rice and lentil flour.
Uttapam

The toppings are usually tomato, onions, chilies. However, all kinds of vegetables can be added, including bell peppers and cilantro. Chutney is served on the side. Uttapam is made from the same batter as dosa (and idli) but it’s cooked much thicker.

  1. As i’m a food lover and i have tried lots of south Indian cuisine in my childhood days while i was living in India. During the festival, my mom used to cook idli, dosa, butter chicken. Through your blog, it takes me back to those childhood memories.
